Noho Wānanga — Two-Day Overnight Course

Two days, one night — learning that goes deeper when you stay.

Our noho courses run over two days on an overnight wānanga. Living and learning together — sharing kai, kōrero and the moana — changes what rangatahi take home. We build the noho around whichever of our subjects your school wants to focus on: freediving, breathwork, water safety, marine education and the Te Wheke Hauora Moana framework.

Who it's for

Kura and Trades Academy groups, from a single student to a full cohort — pricing scales with group size. If you're looking for something bigger, we also deliver year-long courses with the Trades Academy; kōrero with Sacha about what a full-year pathway looks like.

The noho shape

Day one: whakawhanaungatanga, foundations and first water sessions. Evening: kai, kōrero and reflection. Day two: skills build through the morning, a final session in the water, and a closing debrief before ākonga head home. We run noho across Te Tai Tokerau — the Bay of Islands, Kai Iwi Lakes and beyond — shaped around your rohe and your focus subjects.

Price

$500 per student + GST (1–4 students) · $450 per student + GST (5–9 students) · $400 per student + GST (10 or more). Includes all of the subjects your school would like to focus on. Invoiced to the school — registering interest costs nothing and holds your term dates.

Safety & ratios

Pool sessions run at 1:8 instructor-to-student; open water at 1:4 in-water plus a dedicated lookout; Year 8 and below work to a 1:2 adult-to-student benchmark. Buddy system always, wetsuits mandatory, oxygen and first aid on every activity, all kaimahi Children's Act safety checked, and our externally audited Safety Management System is available on request. The full EOTC School Pack — provider agreement, RAMS and instructor qualifications — is sent on registration.

What your kura provides

A liaison teacher contactable 24 hours (staying overnight with the group), behaviour and pastoral care of ākonga, health and behaviour profiles two weeks ahead, parent helpers to ratio, and transport.

Funding

Noho and Trades Academy courses are funded through Gateway, STAR, school EOTC budgets, Tū Manawa Active Aotearoa, Water Safety NZ, and creative or environmental grants. We'll help you build the case.
