🌊 What is Moana Wāhine?

Moana Wāhine is a free, fully funded programme for wāhine, made possible through Tu Manawa. Through freediving, ocean safety, and time in te moana, you'll build confidence, resilience, and connection — to the water, to each other, and to yourself.

This isn't just about learning to dive. It's about finding your crew, discovering what you're capable of, and growing into the person you want to be. We've been building this kaupapa over the last few years and our intention is simple — create community and keep it going.

👤 Who is this for?

• Wāhine only — must identify as female
• All levels welcome — no experience needed

🎯 What you'll get

• Weekly coached freediving sessions
• Breath-hold and technique development
• Ocean safety skills
• A supportive wāhine crew
• Confidence in and around the water
• Connection with te moana and te taiao

💰 Cost

Free. Fully funded through Tu Manawa — no cost to you or your whānau.

🎒 What to bring

Togs, a towel, a water bottle, and all your dive gear if you have it — mask, snorkel, fins, wetsuit. Don't stress if you don't have everything, just bring what you can and we'll sort the rest.
