🌊 What is Moana Wāhine?

Good news — we're bringing Moana Wāhine to Kaitāia this term for two weekend workshops.

Moana Wāhine is a free programme for rangatahi wāhine, funded through Tu Manawa. It's about connecting with te moana in a safe, supportive, wāhine-only space. No experience needed — just come as you are.

We've been building this kaupapa over the last few years and our intention is simple — create community and keep it going.

👤 Who is this for?

• Rangatahi wāhine — must identify as female
• Aged 12+
• All levels welcome — no experience needed

🎯 What you'll get

• Freediving fundamentals and breath-hold training
• Ocean safety skills
• A supportive wāhine crew
• Confidence in and around the water
• Connection with te moana, te taiao, and your community

💰 Cost

Free. Fully funded through Tu Manawa — no cost to you or your whānau.

🎒 What to bring

Togs, a towel, a water bottle, and all your dive gear if you have it — mask, snorkel, fins, wetsuit. Don't stress if you don't have everything, just bring what you can and we'll sort the rest.
